No. 361; Bohemian, Or In Other Words, I Will Probably End Up Studying Scottish Ethnology.
A lazy Sunday evening. {11:59 PM -> 12:00 AM} Ooh boy, Monday here I come!
I think that I have done quite much this weekend. On Friday, half an hour after our English lesson (and our last lesson of the day) ended, I started the two-hour drive down to Hyrynsalmi to attend this one opening. When I got there I had to throw my stuff on my bed, quickly put on a suit (notice the lack of shower after ten hours on the go) and walked to the event. Few glasses of champagne, red wine and whisky and a healthy meal of caesar’s salad with chicken later I was heading back to our cabin and hit the bed.
On Saturday morning around eleven I started driving back to Oulu, in order to continue working on my schoolwork and to watch an episode from the first season of Poirot (ironically enough, the few days old post has nothing to do with this…) later the same evening. After returning to home after the Poirot, I started looking for places where I could study, getting the following list of plausible degrees to apply for:
- English literature,
- English language,
- Economics,
- Physics,
- Astrophysics,
- Sustainable development,
- Classics,
- Ancient history,
- Latin,
- Biblical studies,
- Medieval history,
- Scottish history,
- Scottish ethnology
- and many more with various combinations of the above.
A wide array of subjects so far, but, luckily, I’ve at least a clear idea on the universities I’m applying for; Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews. After this hardcore search (seriously, from 8PM to 2AM) we get to Sunday. Well technically I was already searching when Sunday came, so I guess…
Anyhow, on Sunday I slept late, followed by taking a shower and heading to the centre to get something to eat, after which we have more Poirot. Around four in the afternoon I was back at home, working on a Finnish A1 presentation about The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. I really didn’t feel like studying, and I was again suffering from this tiredness (I have no idea where it comes from; had it for a week and sleeping it off doesn’t work, it just is there preventing almost everything…) so this simple task took me around four hours. After that I read some French for our French test tomorrow, ordered few books and watched an episode of the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (the one where Sherlock’s a dick / the guy overacts him) from the website of YLE. Then I stopped lollygagging, washed my teeth, and hit the bed only to find out that I’d be writing a blog post for half an hour. I guess people call it devotion.
So there you have my bohemian, but yet productive weekend. Alarm goes off in a bit less than six hours, so splendid night to you all.
